Meet Panda!
Panda mama arrived to us in May 2009 with a litter of 6 kittens, She had give birth at a home in Imperial Beach and when we accepted her we thought she was socialized. After a week of having arrived her foster parents noticed she was still not allowing people to approach her so we knew it wasn't that she was just scared but she was probably semi feral.
As of 8/10/10 Panda is 10 pounds and full grown and very healthy.
Panda has been nothing but a love since then, always uses the litter box, sleeps most of the time and finds new corners to 'chill' during the day. She loves to lounge under a ray of sun and has never been a problem. She will randomly take little toys to her water bowl and play in the water. She is really a 'pity' adoption. We need someone to adopt her because they have a home big enough or just want to care for a kitty. Panda will never be a cuddle kitty as she just allows you to pet her once in a while when she walks by your chair or jumps unto your desk and lays behind the computer to look at you but steps away if you try to pet her. At one point she was fostered by a student who worked with her for 3 weeks and we saw a HUGE improvement but then she came back to the foster system and her foster home has several kitties that come and go and is unable to spend the one on one time to help her out.
She is certainly not feral as you can reach her and quickly scruff her to trim nails, medicate or place her in the carrier and she has NEVER tried biting she just tries to get away.
Everyday, she will want to be randomly petted if her foster mom is at the computer, she walks by her legs and loves to have her chin and back rubbed for a little while and then she is done. She is the sweetest gentle little girl who was a great mom and deserves a chance at life.
We have been contacted by potential adopters who would like her for outside but she has been indoors for almost 1 1/2 years and is very calm and quiet she will not be a good outside cat, because she is soo sweet and mellow and harms no one we just don't have the heart to put her to sleep yet we can't keep her in foster forever. She will do great in a home with other dogs or cats who will have no issue accepting a new comer into the house but we are not expecting her to play with them, although, she does get bursts of energy everyday and will chase or likes to be chased by the foster kittens.
ARWOB will be happy to waive adoption fee and even pay for any small medical things she may need like yearly vaccinations, dewormers, medications she may need, etc. We just want a 'SANCTUARY' for her were she can sleep and enjoy her life. Thanks! www.arwob.org
