Meet Toby!
10/26/24 - Update from Toby’s foster family:
Toby is essentially completely potty trained, he goes on each walk, and sits by the door if he needs to go out back during the day while I’m working. Additionally, he has been trained to eat in his crate, creating a sense of home in there, which has helped his separation anxiety when I leave and have to put him in the crate.
I have socialized him with many dogs, whether on walks, with my family dog, friends dogs, at restaurants, etc. He has shown no signs of aggression or made a move at any other dog. He still has the tendency to playfully jump on them occasionally, but usually it is a mutual playful move. He tends to have an eagerness to engage with other dogs. I believe it is pure excitement that he hasn’t learned to control in a social way yet. This has been something I am continually trying to overcome with him.
Original Rescue Story:
Toby is an adorable Baja mutt. Rescued from the streets of Ensenada Mexico late July.
We don't know his breed, he is likely a super mutt with many different breeds but his primary is likely some sort of shepherd although sometimes he gives some boxer vibes, ha! He is a sturdy handsome dude but doubt he will be very large. Likely full grown will be in the 40-60 pound range.
Toby stayed at Casa de arwob through the summer which means he is crate trained. loves car rides, enjoys dog friends and cat friends too! He ADORES humans and would be wonderful around children.
Tobys new adopters should be looking forward to taking dog training seriously to make sure he grows up to be a well mannered pup, puppy training is a must when adopting young dogs!
In September Toby lucked out and has been fostered in a home with young working adults in a home with a yard as a single pet and they have this to say about this sweet boy:
To meet this handsome little dude please submit an adoption application online at ARWOB.org
Meet and greets are scheduled in the Pacific Beach area.
