Meet Leo!
Leo is a photogenic, handsome boy who was adopted as a kitten a year ago by a couple who have 2 dogs but no other cats. Leo had a history in the home of eating a few things he shouldn't have, so he needs an adopter who either will keep Leo in a normal home with enrichment so he is not lonely and bored or perhaps other kitties to keep him busy. We think he was bored and lonely being the only kitty in the home with 2 working adults and would do best in a home with other kitties or adopted along with a buddy.
Leo is currently at our cat adoption center in Petsmart and has gotten used to other kitties. He is very outgoing and loving, however, a home with children that have little toys around home is probably not ideal in order to prevent him from eating any foreign objects.
Udates Jan: After communicating with our volunteers who have been around Leo in his new environment since January, we hope that he can find his forever home in the near future. He will be SO much happpier in a home than in our cat adoption center environment where there are so many things going on and individual time for TLC must be shared with a number of other kitties.
Feb: Leo is very active and LOVES to play with toys and with the other cats during our supervised playtime. He chases and wrestles with other cats although Marmalade and Leo enjoy being happy "wrestle buddies"! Leo is a climber who enjoys climbing up on all of the highest places to survey all that is going on around him.
He has had access to many different toys during our supervised playtime and, although he carries some around from one place to another in his mouth (like a dog), so far, our volunteers have not seen any indication that he is eating them or anything else that he shouldn't in all of the time that he has been with us. In the future, we may put several selected toys in his condo to see how he does in that kind of situation. We are beginning to think, even more, that his past behavior (re: eating some things that he shouldn't) was even more likely because he was alone long hours with both adults working, there were not any other kitties in the home to play and interact with, and he had too many lonely hours which leads to boredom and feeling neglected. The fact that we have not seen any "foreign object eating" in a supervised situation certainly makes us realize just how important TLC time, enrichment, and kitty buddies to race around and play with are to this gorgeous boy.
If you are interested in this sweet boy, please fill out an application online. Leo wants so very much to have a forever home where he is cherished and loved.
